Apple hikes iPhone prices in India
The Union Cabinet decided to increase customs duty on imported smartphones and mobile phones from 15 per cent to 20 per cent. In the recent budget speech, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced this decision. With this smartphone giant Apple has raised prices on their models in India. Apple has also increased prices for Iphone and Apple watches also. However, the price of one iPhone CE model has not been raised. Because this model is manufactured in India, there is no change in price.
In December last year, the import duty on mobile phones was increased from 10 per cent to 15 per cent. Even then Apple raised prices. In the latest budget, it has been revised once again by 20 per cent. Maximum 3.6% on iPhone models and Apple watches raised prices up to 8.3%.
IPhone 6 (32 GB) price is Rs. 30,780 and now it is increased to Rs. 31,900. IPhone 6S (32 GB) is price also raised to Rs. 42,900 from Rs 41,550. The recently released iPhone 8 (64 GB) is price raised Rs. 67,940 from Rs 66,120 . IPhone 8 Plus (64 GB) is priced at Rs. 77,560 old price is about From Rs. 75,450. Last year, Apple released the iPhone 5S (64GB) priced at Rs. 92,430 to and it increased to Rs. 95,390. Other models and versions have also increased according to the model.
The prices of Apple watches have also gone up. Series 3 jps price increased from Rs. 29,900 to Rs. 32,800/- Apple said in a statement.
