China building helipads, sentry posts, trenches in Doklam area: Nirmala Sitharaman
BEIJING: China, which faces border disputes with various countries including India, has allocated huge funds in the budget for its defense and military operations this year. The budget report was presented by Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to the National Parliamentary Party of India (NPC). China has stated that the target of 6.5 per cent of GDP (GDP) growth this year is targeted.
175 billion dollars (about Rs.11.40 lakh crore) for defense. This is 8.1 per cent higher compared to last year. China is the country’s largest defense after the US. China’s budget is almost three and half times more than India’s budget allocated to the Defense Department (46 billion dollars – about Rs. 2.99 lakh crore).
The National People’s Congress (NPC) budget presented a report in the Chinese Parliament. These allocations are three times higher than the Indian defense budget ($ 46 billion). China has decided to remove 3 lakh soldiers from service. the number of China soliders has been reduced to 20 lakh. Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in the Rajya Sabha that China is building helipads and sentry posts, trenches in the controversial Doklam region.
