Protests Rage In Tamil Nadu For Cauvery Management Board, Activists Attempt Self-Immolation
Tamil Naidu demand for the immediate arrangement of the Cauvery River Management Board after hearing the displeasure judgment of the Supreme court. The AIADMK, Opposition parties and student unions have concerned over the failure of Center to respond to the Supreme Court’s decision to set up development council and supervisory committees of March 30. Due to this TN State people have expressed their anger on central government by burning of Prime Minister’s scarecrows.
The two DMK members, who recognize as P.T. Murugesan and Singai Sadashivam, doused themselves with kerosene and tried to self-immolate at Coimbatore and also burned the PM Scarecrows in front of Srivilliputhur court premises in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu. After knowing this incident police had taken 1000 people into custody who allegedly for self-immolations.
Later, on Tuesday the former Unions and the Trade Unions called for the State Bandh on the other hand DMK opposition parties were announced bandh on April 5. DMK made alleges, AIADMK government is breaking the rules of Tamils without making any pressure on BJP government. Moreover, Tamil Nadu political leaders say the BJP is acting in favor of Karnataka, which is opposed to the CMB and where Assembly elections are due.
AIADMK MP resigns: Meanwhile, Muthukuruppan, Rajya Sabha member, has resigned from his post on Monday against the Center’s stand in the formation of the CDC and the Monitoring Committee. However, Muthukuruppun withdrew his resignation with the instructions of Chief Minister Palanisamy.
On the other hand, Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi wrote to Prime Minister Modi, asking the Cauvery water board to be set up quickly.
