‘Still waiting to know why I’m being rested’ – Malinga
Sri Lankan bowler Lasith Malinga said that the 2019 World Cup was his last tournament. For the last few months, Malinga has not been able to get a place in the Srilankan squad. Malinga played his last T20 match against India in September this year. The selectors did not give Maligala a chance for Bangladesh tour.
“I came because, when I started playing cricket whenever there was a national team practice they needed net bowlers. I came in the capacity of a net bowler,” Malinga said.
“If they pick me I’m ready, but the reason for why I haven’t been picked is what I’m still waiting for,” Malinga said. “Usually it’s a player who is 25 or 26 that needs to be rested because they still have a lot of cricket left in them. But for someone of my age, from what I know, there’s really no purpose in being rested. We can only play cricket for another one or two years anyway, but if we’re rested then we won’t get to play cricket, so what’s the point?”
Former cricketer of the Sri Lankan team Chandika took charge as Coach for Sri Lanka, as Sri Lanka facing in line with a series defeat. And now at what extent Malinga impress Chandika and getting a place in Squad is big question.
