Atal Bihari Vajpayee rushed to AIIMS, condition said to be ‘critical’
The BJP senior leader and former Prime Minister of India Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee have admitted in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital, Delhi on Monday. According to media sources, doctors say that he has joined the AIIMS as part of regular medical examinations. Medical tests were conducted under the direction of Dr Ranadeep Gularia. Over the past three decades, Dr Gulaian is the personal physician for Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
For the past few years, this BJP Senior leader confined to house itself due to ill health. He does not attend any activities of BJP. The BJP also confirmed that Vajpayee admitted in AIIMS. Vajpayee was the first Prime Minister from Bhartiya Janata Party.
Vajpayee, who is diabetic and has only one functional kidney, suffered a stroke in 2009 which affected his cognitive abilities. Later, he developed dementia.
In a late-night statement, AIIMS said the former PM has been “diagnosed with a urinary tract infection” for which appropriate treatment is being given and a team of doctors are closely monitoring him. And close Sources in AIIMS described the condition of the BJP leader is critical.
However, Aarti Vij, chairperson of AIIMS’ media and protocol division, said, “The former Prime Minister has been admitted for examination and management. He is stable.”
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, Union Minister JP Nadda, Union Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, and BJP Senior Leader Lal Krishna Advani went to AIIMS hospital in Delhi. Vajpayee who has been admitted in hospital for regular medical examinations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked doctors about health condition, he also inquired about medical services given to the BJP Stalwart. Congress President Rahul Gandhi had also visited Vajpayee and inquired about the health condition.
